Professional Experience

Ellen has been a member of the Dering Consulting team for more than two decades. Her primary responsibilities include project research and analysis. She is also the author and editor of numerous reports and other documents for a variety of clients, including the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and Gannett Fleming.

Education & Credentials

Ellen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, with concentrations in literature and communications, from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Interests

Ellen enjoys swimming, biking, gentle hikes with her husband and family, and exploring this beautiful country—near and far from home. She is an avid gardener and reader, a history and art buff, and a volunteer cat sitter.

For many years, Ellen has been a consultant and advocate for organizations focused on promoting sustainable forestry, land and water conservation, and equity and inclusion for the underserved. She is a member of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and regularly contributes to organizations that champion autistic individuals and those with intellectual disabilities, cognitive delays, and developmental disabilities.
